My Academy — Custom LMS Platform Built in 2 Days

Overview

My Academy is an online learning platform designed to support both teachers and students through a complete course management system. The project was built using Tutor LMS as the core learning management engine, with a fully custom Elementor and Pro Elements design layered on top — referencing a competitor academy site for initial inspiration while improving on its design organization and adding animation-driven polish. The entire platform was conceived, designed, and delivered within a 2-day turnaround.

The Challenge

The defining constraint of this project was speed without sacrificing quality. Key challenges included:

• Delivering a complete LMS platform — covering teacher dashboards, student dashboards, and full course functionality — within a 2-day deadline
• Improving on a reference academy site's design rather than simply replicating it, while still hitting the deadline
• Matching Tutor LMS's native dashboard and course templates with a fully custom design system, rather than leaving them in their default plugin styling
• Incorporating animations and a more organized visual structure than the reference site without extending the timeline

Development Process

LMS Foundation

Tutor LMS was set up as the core learning management system, providing course creation, lesson structuring, teacher and student role management, and the underlying dashboard architecture for both user types. This gave the project a stable, feature-complete LMS foundation to build a custom design on top of rather than building course logic from scratch.

Custom Design System

A fully custom design was built using Elementor and Pro Elements, with JegKit providing the icon system used throughout the interface. Rather than leaving Tutor LMS's dashboard and course templates in their default appearance, the custom design was extended to match and restyle the native LMS sections — ensuring teacher dashboards, student dashboards, course pages, and lesson views all shared a consistent, branded visual language instead of feeling like a stock plugin experience.

Design Direction & Improvements

The reference academy site was used as a starting inspiration point, but the design was deliberately not cloned exactly. Improvements were made to visual organization, layout clarity, and overall structure, and animation effects were incorporated throughout to add a more dynamic, polished feel than the reference site offered.
