A major workflow transformation and platform enhancement for Mirtex Trading, a US-based home decor wholesale e-commerce platform. The project converted a standard wholesale store into a field-sales order management system — where company representatives visit local stores, take orders, and place them through a custom-built marketer dashboard. The work included adding new modules, custom post types, complete admin and marketer dashboard redesigns, SEO improvements, and security hardening — all within a custom PHP/MySQL/Bootstrap application.

Mirtex Trading — Field Sales Order Management Platform & E-Commerce Enhancement

Overview

Mirtex Trading is a US-based wholesale home decor company. Prior to this engagement, their platform operated as a standard wholesale e-commerce website. The project involved a complete workflow transformation — building a field-sales order management system where company representatives visit local retail stores, take orders in person, and place those orders through a custom marketer dashboard on the platform. This required significant new module development, custom post type additions, and complete redesigns of both the admin and marketer dashboards — all built within the existing custom PHP/MySQL/Bootstrap application, alongside SEO and security improvements.

The Challenge

Transforming a standard e-commerce platform into a field-sales order workflow system required rethinking the platform's core user flows and data architecture. Key challenges included:

  • Designing and building a new marketer-facing dashboard — a role that did not previously exist on the platform — with a workflow tailored for field representatives placing orders on behalf of retail store clients
  • Adding new modules to support the field-sales workflow — store management, order placement on behalf of clients, order tracking, and marketer performance visibility
  • Extending the existing custom post types and data structures to support the new workflow without breaking the existing wholesale e-commerce functionality
  • Redesigning the admin dashboard to accommodate new workflow management, marketer oversight, and order processing capabilities
  • Applying SEO and security improvements across a complex custom PHP application

Development Process

Codebase Analysis & Planning

The existing custom PHP/MySQL application was thoroughly reviewed — analyzing the database schema, existing CPT structures, routing architecture, admin dashboard patterns, and Bootstrap frontend conventions — before designing the new workflow modules and dashboard changes to ensure all additions integrated cleanly.

Field Sales Workflow — Marketer Dashboard

A completely new marketer dashboard was built for field sales representatives — providing a dedicated interface for managing their assigned retail store accounts, browsing the product catalog on behalf of a store, placing orders for specific store clients, and tracking order history. The marketer workflow was designed to be fast and practical for use in the field — with streamlined order placement focused on the representative's specific client accounts.

New Modules

Several new modules were developed and integrated into the platform to support the field-sales workflow — covering store/client account management, marketer-to-client order association, field order tracking, and marketer performance visibility from the admin side. Each module was built within the existing PHP/MySQL architecture and admin dashboard framework.

Custom Post Type Extensions

Existing custom post types were extended and new ones were added to support the new workflow data requirements — including store accounts, field orders, marketer assignments, and related data structures. Database schema changes were made carefully to preserve all existing wholesale e-commerce data and functionality.

Admin Dashboard Redesign

The admin dashboard was significantly redesigned to accommodate the new workflow — adding marketer management, field order oversight, store account management, and performance monitoring capabilities alongside the existing wholesale order management and product administration functions. Dashboard navigation and layout were improved for clarity and operational efficiency.

SEO Improvements

SEO improvements were applied across the platform — covering on-page optimization, metadata, URL structure, and content-level improvements to improve organic visibility for the home decor wholesale business.

Security Hardening

Security hardening measures were applied across the custom PHP application — addressing common vulnerabilities and implementing protective measures appropriate for a commercial e-commerce platform handling order and client data.
