Aerzte Exklusiv

A complex WordPress website rebuild for Ärzte Exklusiv, an Austrian exclusive benefits and services platform for medical professionals. The project involved a full custom design, a custom Loop Grid plugin with server-side AJAX filtering, an advanced multi-group registration form with 35+ benefit entries, address validation, duplicate prevention, PDF downloads per entry, jump mark navigation, input sanitization, and multiple rounds of client revisions.

Ärzte Exklusiv — Austrian Medical Professionals Benefits Platform

Overview

Ärzte Exklusiv is an Austrian platform offering exclusive financial, real estate, travel, and lifestyle benefits to medical professionals. The project was a full website rebuild — replacing the existing site with a modern custom WordPress design, building a custom Loop Grid plugin with server-side AJAX filtering for the directory section, and delivering a highly advanced multi-group registration form covering 35+ individual benefit entries with address validation, duplicate prevention, input sanitization, PDF downloads, and jump mark navigation.

The Challenge

The project combined a demanding design rebuild with deeply complex form and directory functionality. Key challenges included:

  • Building a custom Loop Grid plugin to power the directory archive with server-side AJAX filtering and correct pagination
  • Developing an advanced registration form covering 35+ individually grouped benefit entries — each requiring a PDF download option and a unique anchor/jump mark for deep-linking from newsletters
  • Implementing automatic input sanitization — capitalizing first letters, handling compound names correctly (e.g. van der Linden, McDonald) — across all personal detail fields
  • Integrating Google Maps Address Validation API for real-time address checking on form submission
  • Building duplicate prevention logic checking both email and phone number — blocking resubmission until manually reset by the admin
  • Outputting form submissions in a structured Excel-compatible format with personal fields followed by checkbox columns (1/0) per benefit entry
  • Managing multiple structured revision rounds covering form field ordering, layout, typography, directory content display, and pagination

Scope of Work

  • Full Website Rebuild — Complete redesign modeled after the medi.de reference site adapted for the Ärzte Exklusiv brand
  • Custom Loop Grid Plugin — Built from scratch to power directory listings with server-side AJAX filtering
  • Advanced Registration Form — 35+ benefit groups with PDF downloads, jump marks, address validation, duplicate prevention, and sanitization
  • Directory Archive — Paginated at 12 per page with category filtering and full content display
  • Site Migration — Development site migrated to the client's development domain

Development Process

Design & Global Styles

The site was rebuilt from scratch with a modern design referencing medi.de as the primary visual direction. Global styles, typography, and layout were configured in Elementor. Category labels above article headlines were styled in Times New Roman as per client specification. The overall design maintained a clean, professional aesthetic appropriate for a premium medical professional benefits platform.

Custom Loop Grid Plugin

A custom Loop Grid plugin was developed to power the directory archive section. The plugin was initially built with standard filtering, then updated to server-side AJAX filtering to resolve pagination and filtering reliability issues. Content display was updated from excerpt to full content output to correctly show complete directory entry descriptions. The archive pagination was updated from 9 to 12 items per page. Pagination bugs across multiple archive pages were identified and resolved, and permalinks were cleared to finalize the fix.

Advanced Registration Form

The registration form was built to handle 35+ individually grouped benefit entries — spanning financial services, real estate, automotive, travel, and lifestyle categories. Each entry group was assigned a unique form ID for jump mark deep-linking, allowing direct navigation from newsletter links to a specific benefit entry. Each entry also includes a PDF download option for associated information materials, referencing the Marburger Bund information material pattern.

The personal details section of the form was structured in a precise two and three column layout: Salutation/Title, First Name/Last Name, Address/Postcode/City, Phone/Email, Specialty/Doctor Number, and Terms. Automatic input sanitization was implemented — first letters capitalized correctly, compound name formats handled properly. Google Maps Address Validation API integration was added for real-time address checking. A duplicate prevention system was built to block resubmission based on matching email or phone number, resettable manually by the admin. Form output was structured for Excel export with personal fields followed by 1/0 checkbox columns per benefit entry.

Related Articles — Multi-Grid Query System

A custom PHP solution was implemented for the related articles section on single posts — using three separate Elementor Loop Grids each with distinct Query IDs and controlled offsets to display five related posts from the same child category without duplication. Each query filters by the current post's child category, excludes the current post, and uses sequential offsets to prevent any post appearing in multiple grids. All queries use consistent date-descending ordering for predictable behavior.

Client Revisions

Multiple structured revision rounds were completed. Early revisions addressed form field ordering — correcting the placement of Fachrichtung next to Arztnummer and ensuring Adresse, PLZ, and Ort appeared in the correct three-column row. February revisions covered homepage category label typography, form layout shortening, and field row grouping. The March revision round addressed directory entry content break display issues, which were resolved by switching from excerpt to full content output in the custom loop plugin.
